Dipika, born in Ajmer, Rajasthan, in 1947, is a distinguished artist whose work is deeply rooted in the rich folklore and rural cultural traditions of her native land.
She completed her graduation and post-graduation from the University of Rajasthan, where she was awarded a gold medal in 1968, and later pursued further studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. In 1972, she embarked on an educational tour of the UK and Europe, which broadened her artistic perspective.
Her artwork is characterized by a harmonious blend of traditional themes and contemporary expression, often cantered around the recurring motif of smiling girls clad in traditional saris. Dipika began her teaching career as a lecturer at Savitri Girls’ College in Ajmer and later became the Head of the Department of Art & Crafts at Mayo College. She has showcased her work in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including those organized by the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi, the First Women Artists’ Exhibition in New Delhi, and She has participated in several prestigious national exhibitions, including the Rastriya Kala Mela and the Atul National Drawing and Graphic Exhibition in Ahmedabad.
Over the years, she has received several accolades, including awards from both the Lalit Kala Akademi and the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi.
Her works are housed in notable collections, including the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), NCERT, the College of Art in New Delhi, and various public and private institutions.
