Chandra Prakash Choudhary

Born in 1951 in the village of Kankroli, Rajsamand (Rajasthan), this distinguished sculptor earned his master’s degree in Drawing and Painting from Udaipur University. Initially experimenting with various mediums, he eventually found marble to be the most resonant material for his artistic expression.

Over the years, he has carved a distinct identity among contemporary Indian sculptors, holding 26 solo exhibitions across cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Udaipur, and New Delhi. His sculptures are crafted from a wide range of marbles and stones—white marble, Jaisalmer stone, Udaipur’s pink marble, Bheslana black marble, and sandstone—sourced from different regions of Rajasthan. For his outstanding contribution to Indian sculpture, he has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the National Academy Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi (1992), three State Awards from the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi, and the All-India Kalidas Samaroh Award.
