Mahaveer Swami

Born in 1959 in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Mahaveer Swami is a distinguished artist celebrated for his mastery in painting and sculpture. He completed his diploma from the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur, where he trained under the legendary traditional painter Shri Vedpal Sharma “Bannu.” Deeply rooted in the rich heritage of Indian miniature art, Mahaveer's artistic journey began at home and evolved into a practice that bridges traditional techniques with contemporary relevance. 

His artworks have been showcased in over 60 exhibitions, spanning major Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Jaipur, as well as international venues in Paris, Brussels, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and beyond.

In addition to his exhibitions, he has conducted workshops around the globe, sharing his knowledge in places like Paris, Cairo, Jerusalem, Dubai, and Shanghai. 

Mahaveer has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Master Craftsman Award (National Award), Kala Shree, and the Rajiv Ratna Award. His paintings are housed in the permanent collections of over 15 renowned museums and institutions worldwide, including the Hunt Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (USA), the Museum of Sacred Art in Belgium, and the Cultural International Festival of Miniature & Illumination in Algeria. Based in his hometown of Bikaner, Mahaveer Swami continues to work from his studio, contributing significantly to the preservation and global appreciation of Indian miniature art.
