Dr. Jagmohan Mathodia

Jagmohan’s artistic journey is marked by deep introspection, experimentation, and a continuous drive for innovation. He envisions infinite creative possibilities within the recesses of his mind and transforms them into visual narratives through his art. His process is meditative, requiring patience and relentless practice, allowing him to not only evolve as an artist but also as a more conscious human being. Known for his thoughtful approach, he believes that each painting is a reflection of both what he anticipates and what he discovers through the act of creation.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Jagmohan has contributed significantly to arts education through his tenure as a teacher at the Rajasthan School of Art, where he inspired and mentored aspiring artists. His unique thematic focus has earned him several prestigious accolades, including a special recognition from the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for creating the largest number of dog-themed paintings and depicting the greatest number of dogs in a single composition. He received a National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi during the 8th Kala Mela in Jaipur (2000), and a National Award in the “50 Years of Art in Independent India” exhibition organized by the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi (1997). That same year, he also received a State Award in a collaborative event by AIFACS and Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi.

Jagmohan’s work has been widely exhibited across major art venues, including Sukriti Art Gallery and Chaturdik Art Gallery at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur; the Art Gallery of the West Zone Culture Centre, Udaipur; and during the Cultural Festival organized by the Art Council of Rajasthan. His oeuvre reflects a rich blend of imagination, technical skill, and a deep connection to personal and collective narratives.
